
Won three gold medals and title of best female swimmer in the 22nd Para swimming Championships held in Guwahati

A student of Maharaja Sayajirao University Garima Vyas who won gold medal in para swimming was felicitated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vijay Kumar Srivastava. Garima a post graduate in Clinical Psychology, has added another feather to the university’s laurels.
Garima Vyas won three gold medals and the title of best female swimmer in the 22nd Para swimming Championships held in Guwahati from November 11-13, 2022. The title won by Garima Vyas is significant as she is the first para swimmer from the state to win a gold medal in every event and become the best female swimmer. Vice-Chancellor of M.S. University Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Srivastava congratulated Garima Vyas on winning the title and wished her all the best for the future. He said, Garima Vyas has inspired the students and despite the challenges, everyone should keep striving for progress.
32 competitors from Gujarat participated in this championship and out of which 18 won gold, five won silver and six won bronze medals. Gujarat finished sixth in this championship. Six para swimmers from Vadodara participated in this event. Earlier in March 2022, Garima won a gold medal in the Para swimming Championship held in Udaipur. She won two gold medals in Khel Mahakumbh held in May 2022.
Garima Vyas has been using a wheelchair since she injured her lower back while trekking in August 2016 when she was 15 years old. Garima is metally very strong and has a positive approach in life. She continues to focus on swimming along with studies and improving her health.
